Istanbul as a collage of cultures, religions, identities where sounds multiply and resonate. This city, which straddles both the Orient and the Occident, is presented through the dual views of sound and rhythm. How to see and listen to the cultural capital of Turkey?
Kolaj Istanbul ! intends to recreate, within Gaîté lyrique, a public space where sounds and influences intermingle, and invites the French public to embark for an event-packed stroll through the organized chaos and the unique ambiance that reign in Istanbul's crowded streets. Five days during which the city begins to take shape bit by bit through the multi-layered collaborations of different communities.
The program includes a wide range of events, in a joyful chaos that evokes the buoyant sometimes extravagant atmosphere of the city: a vivid exploration of Istanbul with the poetic sound installation of Serra Yilmaz and Gilles Mardirossian, present their vision of the city; performances by the choregraphers and dancers Filiz Sızanlı and Mustafa Kaplan; concerts by Ilhan Ersahin's Istanbul Sessions, Yakaza Ensemble, 123, Kim Ki O, Replikas, Burak Arikan, Klaustro and Hayvanlar Alemi; live broadcasts by Istanbul's independent and cultural radio Açik Radyo; a sound installation by Cevdet Erek inside the high-tech “audio room” of Gaîté lyrique; a multimedia performance by visual artist Burak Arikan and musician Klaustro; daily projections of documentaries and short movies; conferences; a special carte blanche to the club Mini Müzikhol and the label S.O.A.P. for a whole-day-long Sunday party marathon and many other surprises.
